Almost the entire municipality of Kristianstad is covered by the Biosphere Reserve Kristianstads Vattenrike, with Helge å winding from the northern part towards the coast in the south. There are also plenty of lakes and waterways that make the area perfect for experiences on and with water.

Canoe trails
In the northern parts there is the Immeln-Raslången-Halen canoe trail with campsites scattered over the lake system.
In Kristianstad's Vattenriket there are different routes to choose from. Paddle in the city, beach meadow and sea.
Hammarsjön can be difficult to cross but to make it easier there is a digital trail to download to your plotter, GPS or phone. In order for the data to be usable in different devices, there are two GPX files to choose from.

You can paddle with a canoe, kayak or on a Stand up Paddle Board. There are several rental companies that offer paddling with or without a guide.

Boat trips
If you don't feel like paddling yourself but want to experience the surroundings from the water, you can book a boat trip. Stora Safaribåten runs guided boat tours in Kristianstad's Vattenrike starting from Tivoli Park in Kristianstad. The tour is approximately 2 hours. There are slightly different tours depending on the day. You can buy coffee and water on board, but it is also fine to bring a coffee basket.
